What Happened to Masculinity in the West

Something that we can sense - it is hard to exactly describe, but society's definition of masculinity has changed in the west. James Bond, Superman, Spiderman, Batman, there are endless male superheroes I can point to that originated in the 50s and earlier. But I'm not aware of Western culture generating superhero role models that all young boys know and aspire to be like in the modern day. It is an interesting problem to dissect.
